WHAT WE OFFER

COVID-19 PCR

Use:

COVID-19 PCR Collection is used to diagnose people who are infected by the virus SARS-CoV-2, which is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. This is considered to be the gold-standard for diagnosing COVID-19 because it is known to be the most accurate and the most reliable test.

Ask your doctor:

You will need to ask your doctor for a laboratory requisition that states this blood test. Your doctor can either fax it to 860-532-1922 or drop the order here.

If this is for an upcoming surgery or medical procedure, please have your physician indicate this in the order to help avoid delay of results.

Keep in mind:

The tests are processed by the laboratory of you or your physician's choosing. The turnaround time is usually between 1-3 days but will depend on the backlog of the laboratory. If needed, we would be happy to help follow up on your results.

Use:

A flu testing may be used to help diagnose an influenza infection (flu) and help make treatment decisions.

Sometimes influenza testing is used to help document the presence of influenza in the community or to help determine whether an outbreak of flu is occurring, especially in settings such as nursing homes and schools. Testing may be used to identify the type and/or the strain of influenza causing infections.

Ask your doctor:

Keep in mind:

This antibody testing can not be used to determine one’s protective immunity levels post vaccination. For post vaccination antibodies, you will need a different kind of antibody testing called "Spike Protein", which is described below.

FLU SWAB

STREP TEST

Use:

Strep Tests are used to help your physician diagnose if your sore throat is an infection of the throat and tonsils caused by group A strep (GAS), commonly known as strep throat. This is performed by collecting a swab from the back of the patient's throat. Indications of strep throat include pain while swallowing, red spots on the roof of the mouth, sore throat, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. Strep throat can be spread by breathing in droplets and  is therefore highly contagious.

Ask your doctor:

By scheduling a Hi-Rx strep test, you can avoid a trip to the doctor's office and allow yourself to rest while you’re feeling under the weather.

You will need to ask your doctor for a laboratory requisition that states this test. Your doctor can either fax it to 860-532-1922 or drop the order here.

Keep in mind:

With a requisition from your doctor, a Hi-Rx medical professional can collect your sample from the comfort of your home. By doing so, you will also protect others from being infected.

The results of your test will be communicated directly to the ordering physician. If the test results are positive, your doctor will probably write you a prescription for the antibiotics, and for an extra fee, a Hi-Rx care specialist can pick-up the medication for you!

HSV-1 or ORAL HERPES

Use:

HSV-1 or also known as Oral Herpes, is a skin infection that causes blisters and cold sores around the mouth. This test will help your physician diagnose if the blister that you have is caused by the HSV-1 virus.
