What To Expect:
Immunizations

Before Your Appointment

1

Hi-Rx specializes in making things convenient for you! We will assist you in scheduling your appointment at a time and location that work for you.

2

Your Hi-Rx Care Specialist will pick - up the vaccine from your pharmacy. The storage & travel requirements will be followed to uphold quality & safety.

During The Appointment

1

Your Care Specialist will meet you at the place & time of your choosing. We encourage you to prepare a location that promotes your comfort and privacy.

2

Please prepare your identification card (ex: passport, driver’s license). This will help us verify if we have the right vaccine for the right person!

3

Before giving you the injection, your Hi-Rx Care Specialist will ask you a few questions regarding your medical history and past experience with needles and injections. Make sure to communicate any medications you may be taking that have blood thinning qualities with your specialist before they begin. If you experience anxiety while getting your blood drawn or receiving injections, make sure to indicate that as well.

If you are not feeling well, please let your Care Specialist know.
There is no such thing as over communication!

Our Care Specialist wants any information that can help them provide you with the most comfortable experience possible.

4

Once everything is set, your Hi-Rx Care Specialist will prepare the necessary materials for your injection. Every vaccine has its own route of administration. Your Care Specialist will let you know what sites can be used for your immunization. Potential injection side effects will also be discussed by your Care Specialist before administration. Please make sure to ask them any questions you may have during this time.

5

After identifying the appropriate site, your Care Specialist will sanitize it with an alcohol pad. Once dry, a small needle will be inserted to administer the immunization.  You might feel a slight pinch or discomfort.

6

A gauze or cotton ball will be placed over the puncture site. Please leave this dressing in place for a short time (usually around 3-5 hours, unless advised otherwise).

7

Before leaving, your Care Specialist will make sure that you are feeling well. If you feel faint or dizzy, please let your Care Specialist know.

Depending on the shot, the Hi-Rx Care Specialist may be required to stay & observe you for a few minutes following the administration. This is to ensure that there are no signs of adverse reactions. If you feel in any way uncomfortable during this time, please make sure you verbalize your concerns with your nurse.
